Straightening up
I'm now very bored of this book. The extended sourcebook on Qulaitative Data Analysis. Zzzzzz. I'm itching to get on and try to do some junk removal (house far too full of it) and some DIY. Must finish book first though. At this rate I really will be cleaning on my birthday. Oh well. Trying to think what else I need to put in here. End of school was pretty rough. Lots of great teachers leaving, kids being horrid right up to the bell (can't even cope with sitting in a classroom eating my sweets for 15 mins, no they have to mess me around don't they). Good chat in the pub after with Jono, then Bonnie. Went straight home, well ish, to norwich to get away from the house. I wanted to start the holiday by actually getting away from it all, if I had spent the first day of the holiday cleaning up the pig sty I might have cried. It was all there waiting for me on my return anyway!. Had a good time back home. Got my 'suprise' birthday pressie, got the first thing off my Summer Goals list ticked off, Dad gave me a stereo and bling speakers for my birthday and helped me fit them, well, more accurately he fitted them whilst I made a meal of a few screws. So much better now I've 'Pimped my Ride'.
Went to Mundsley and somewhere else with Chalkie and Nan/Grandad. Had a paddle, would of had a swim if Dad hadn't been such a weed. That and we wouldn't let him go in wearing his pants. Got to drive my car for the whole of 10 mins. Ma was being Bridget Jones on the way there, Dad nicked it for the ride home. Mum had to hold her hair on when they finally overtook us. Great impromptu barbie after, and a chilled day with Nikki and Ma on Monday. Saw Lesley and Lester and fixed Helen's PC before getting takeout. Manic on Tues trying to leave the house, Ma was being very fussy about the vase she wanted me to make for someone's wedding gift. I won't even go into the nightmare that is the A47. Just to say that if ever I see another sign saying Accident on A14 I will take my chances and sit in a traffic jam rather than go through Peteboghorror and Leicester again.
Sat 23rd, played footy in Rachel's kitchen during a bit of a mad half hour (dorito, pringle, chocolate and brownie bite fuelled) BTW don't bother watching Bride and Prejudice. Unless drinking more than shandy. Sun 24th 5 a side tournament in Nottingham with my new team Loughborough Dynamo. Me and Em finally got our arses in gear and joined. Personally i think Em's 'I've never played before' story is all rubbish. My team did fairly pants in the tournament, didn't score a single goal. But their attitude was great so I am well pleased with our choice of club. I so nearly scored. but didn't. One day.
Watching: Space Cowboys (good) Bride and Prejudice (not) Chronicles of Narnia (worse than I remember and taking ages as it makes me fall asleep within 10 mins)
Reading: Just finished Harry Potter.....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo!
Listening: All my old tapes. Trying to get rid of some, found some good blues guitar and a bit of Jools Holland though.

A bit behind
That was bit, not big. So much to stuff to put in here. I'll start with July 10th, the Team GB trials for mountian bike orienteering at Sherwood Forest. For my first race and current state of health and fitness I guess I did OK. Loved it, but still finished an hour behind Toni. Still I need to learn that finishing way behind Toni isn't really that bad as she was second and this race featured the whole GB team. I wouldn't be so harsh on myself losing an 800m to Kelly Holmes. Anyway, I blame lots of the time on my slowness to get my brain in gear (had to get shouted at by a grumpy man on a private road before that happened) and the fact that while everybody else had their map displayed on a gadget attached to their handlebars, mine was stuffed down my shorts. Anyway, it was great fun, I thought I did really well in the short phase between getting brain working and being tired and dozy. Would love to go back next year having done a few more races.
The rest of that week was the last week at school. Jono never did raise the 50 quid needed to see me in a dress so I went to the Prom in trousers. Gutted that I missed Tom Roberts on his Harley. Limos are so last year, fire engines and mini motos seem to be in.
Natural History Museum on Thursday. Kids were great, esp during the 2 minute silence on the bus for the London bombing. They were not so good on the way home when I fell asleep on the back row and they were all throwing sweets at me and taking photos on their mobiles. Gits. Anyway the Dinosoars were great. Missed some other good galleries cos Mrs Khan got us lost.
More later, gotta go now, playing in a 5-s-side footy tournament today. Hehe.

London 2012
Come On!!!!!
So pleased about getting the Olympics. Remi is not best pleased, he is in a v bad mood. It seems some customers were mean to him in Decathlon today. No further comment then.
Finished watching Pride and Prejudice after I got home from After School Detention tonight. What am I going to do now? I guess Bridget Jones is the next best thing, and I still have installment 3 of Sense and Sensibility to watch with Rach.
The mystery of the missing garage key was solved yesterday when Remi came back from France with a 'please don't kill me' look on his face and the keys in his hand. Good job school all think I am a fool anyway, they don't ask when I ring in to explain that I will be late as my car is locked in the garage.
Listening: RHCP, Bridget Jones OST, I Tunes on shuffle, One Hundred Hours. Line of the week from OHH..."Help me trust in your great love for me"
Watching: Batman Begins. Fantastic, if you ignore the contradictions with the original Batman film. Wicked car. Hehe.

Hakuna Matata
Just made two very important decisions (possibly with the aid of this here large bottle of 'Goliath' beer).
1) I am leaving Humphrey Perkins to go be a teacher in an International School in Tanzania as soon as is possible. Please remind me of this when I get fed up with trying to finish the PhD.
2) My epitaph (is that right? bit on gravestone) as a result of conversation with Matt regarding tonights afters and use by dates.....
"What can possibly go wrong with custard powder?"

I do not have the pleasure of understanding you. Of what are you speaking?
Utterly fantastic. The girls took me out for my birthday suprise last night. I still thought we were going mud wrestling until we arrived. Then I saw a sign for a 'Plant Fair'. Emma nearly wet herself. Anyway. Resplendent with waterproofs and posh wicker picnic basket we were treated to the finest ever performance of Pride and Prejudice. I have not giggled so much in ages. But then that may have something to do with the infectious nature of Tracey's laugh. Our picnic tea was truely splendid (the best in the park)...

The play itself was soooo funny. All the best lines from the book, and often delivered at a screech. The carraige scenes were classic, Rachel was relieved to see it was only a coconut. All period drama should be done in costumes like these...

Everyone should go see this (Check them out) I must remember to look out for them near Norwich next season so I can take Ma. Oh and Jane....much better than Coldplay. Hah.
Right. Just had epic online shop on Amazon (only meant to buy Harry Potter) so now I need to do some housework before settling in with some chocolate to watch the BBC version, as there are no boys in the house.

Whinging banned
No complaining allowed. Remi says.
Have just been clicking on next blog. Its great. You find some real weirdos and then some real good stuff. Guess tonight was God being random again in telling me what I need to hear. Came across a post that was a transcription of a speech Steve Jobs gave at a graduation ceremony on "what to do with your life". Let me know if you wanna read it.
On a more mundane note I'm nicking an idea from another blog which was a simple bullet list at the end of a post:
Reading: Sense and Sensibility, A Brief History of Everything (Bryson) and the Extended Sourcebook for qualitative data analysis.
Watching: Lawrence of Arabia (hideously long and the theme tune is starting to p*** me off), Sense and Sensibility (with Rach and in 3 installments so far as last night was interupted by lecturing mother), Bill Bailey Part Troll (sooooo funny. esp the giant twig)
Listening: Aretha Franklin, Jacko Number Ones, Savage Garden, Tim Hughes
Doing: Biked round Rutland Water, trying to relax, ironing. Skiving a dull retirment meal with school people (hehe).
