A bit behind
That was bit, not big. So much to stuff to put in here. I'll start with July 10th, the Team GB trials for mountian bike orienteering at Sherwood Forest. For my first race and current state of health and fitness I guess I did OK. Loved it, but still finished an hour behind Toni. Still I need to learn that finishing way behind Toni isn't really that bad as she was second and this race featured the whole GB team. I wouldn't be so harsh on myself losing an 800m to Kelly Holmes. Anyway, I blame lots of the time on my slowness to get my brain in gear (had to get shouted at by a grumpy man on a private road before that happened) and the fact that while everybody else had their map displayed on a gadget attached to their handlebars, mine was stuffed down my shorts. Anyway, it was great fun, I thought I did really well in the short phase between getting brain working and being tired and dozy. Would love to go back next year having done a few more races.
The rest of that week was the last week at school. Jono never did raise the 50 quid needed to see me in a dress so I went to the Prom in trousers. Gutted that I missed Tom Roberts on his Harley. Limos are so last year, fire engines and mini motos seem to be in.
Natural History Museum on Thursday. Kids were great, esp during the 2 minute silence on the bus for the London bombing. They were not so good on the way home when I fell asleep on the back row and they were all throwing sweets at me and taking photos on their mobiles. Gits. Anyway the Dinosoars were great. Missed some other good galleries cos Mrs Khan got us lost.
More later, gotta go now, playing in a 5-s-side footy tournament today. Hehe.
